Our 5 tips for a successful Christmas party
We have more than 10 years of experience in organizing Christmas parties. Here are our top five tips for turning this year's Christmas table into a party!
Invite a great group of friends or colleagues! We'll be happy to set the framework for your Christmas celebration, but it's you participants who will do the hard work in the form of funny jokes, snappy songs and pleasant conversations at the dinner table.
Set aside time for socializing outside of dinner! Build mingling occasions into the evening's agenda where participants can get the chance to talk to more than their table neighbors. Perhaps at a welcoming mulled wine reception? Perhaps coffee can be taken at a standing table after dinner? A little movement among the participants creates more contact areas in a natural way.
Music. Raise the mood by playing music that everyone likes. It doesn't have to be Christmas music, but make everyone feel like it's a party. Don't forget to update the playlist (and volume) as the evening progresses. Calmer and more civilized music during dinner and more festive music just in time for dessert!
Icebreakers! If you are a group of colleagues who usually only meet during office hours, it can be a good idea to plan a fun activity where you get the chance to get to know each other in a light-hearted way. We're all for our own challenges, of course, but a music quiz or short activity works well if the party is held on your own premises. Maybe icing gingerbread or flavoring the schnapps?
Food and sweets! Food galore is part of Christmas and we think so too. There doesn't necessarily have to be a Christmas table at a Christmas party, but if you choose to skip the Christmas food, you can always "julify" the evening with mulled wine, gottebord, Ris ala Malta, clementines and Christmas apples. This year we have chosen to do both, i.e. we will offer a delicious Christmas table prepared by the chefs at the popular Pembert & Co and supplement with the aforementioned good accessories.
