Tips on games for the summer party!

Summer is filled with picnics, summer parties and celebrations. Why not spice up these events with some more fun activities? Here are five tips for fun competitions, which can be done individually or as a team.

Beach ball race

Materials: Bath ball (1 per team), water guns, water bucket or similar
Time: 5-10 min

A relay race where the goal is to move the ball from point A to B using only the water jet. You can choose to have only one finish or a more advanced slalom loop.

Paper planes

Materials: Paper (preferably different colors for different teams), paper clips
Time: 10-15 min

Simple exercise that works best in calm weather. All you need is A4 paper, preferably in different colors.

The competition involves folding paper planes in teams and throwing them at selected targets. The target can be a marked surface, a rock ring, a blanket, etc. You can throw the same plane as many times as you like until it hits the target area. If the plane hits the target, it is used up and you must build a new one to get another hit.

You can also compete in cross-country, if you are short of target areas.

Each team has the same amount of paper and the same amount of time. Everyone in the team can build and throw throughout the exercise. When the time is up, the planes in each team's color are counted. The most planes within the target area wins (or the longest throw).

Smoothie quiz

Material: Ingredients, shot glass
Time: 5-10 min

Make the snack a game. Let participants guess what's in the juice or smoothie. Perfect refreshing activity on hot summer days.

Tips on flavors that can be both tasty and tricky:

  • Cinnamon

  • Ginger

  • Turmeric

  • Spinach

  • Cucumber

  • Celery

  • Kale

  • Lemon

  • cocoa

Flying picnic blanket

Materials: One or more picnic blankets
Time: 10-15 minutes

Place all participants on a blanket. The smaller the area per participant, the more difficult the exercise.

The challenge is to try to turn the blanket upside down without anyone stepping off it. It is important that the blanket is big enough to make the task possible, but small enough to make it a bit difficult!

It is possible to stand MANY on one mat and succeed!

Twister variant

Materials: None
Time: 10-15 min

Participants are divided into teams of about 4-5 people. The leader then says, for example, "Eight feet, three hands!". The teams should then line up so that they have eight feet on the ground and at least three hands in the air. If the leader says "Four feet and five hands", the teams must have four feet on the ground and at least five hands in the air. It gets harder the fewer feet you have to use!

Start easy and increase the level as one team wins. Maybe you can also expand to use other body parts?
